Craigslist: Some Tips On How To Promote Your Business On Craigslist

When you learn how to promote your business on Craigslist, you will be able to advertise your business to millions of people daily, virtually for free.

Craigslist.org is a community website where you can post almost any type of advertisement, including business listings, for free.

As you know, these days free advertising to this large an audience is a rarity on the Internet.

All you need to promote your business on Craigslist and make money is a valid email address to sign up and register. It’s just that simple.

Next you need to determine what your competition is, search for a category that your business falls into, create your advertisement, and post it,

Your advertisement will initially be posted on the top of the page for a few days, and will only be effective for about 45 days before it gets lost in the shuffle.

If you plan to successfully promote your business on Craigslist, you obviously can’t just let your advertisement remain as is.

  • After a couple of days or so, you need to delete your ad, and re-post it.   This needs to be done because your ad drops it’s position on the page, as your advertisement “ages”.

By deleting and re-posting your advertisement, you can keep your ad more visible to viewers because it will again go back to the top of the page.

  • Another way to promote your business on Craigslist more effectively, and to garner more visibility, is to place your advertisement if possible in more than one category.

As long as your ads are not duplicated for the exact same service, you are currently allowed to post as many ads as you like.

You can begin with one advertisement and post an ad for a slightly different service the next day.  You can continue with this thread, posting slightly different ads, for slightly different services, on a daily basis.   If you manage them well, you can have as many as 6 or 7 business ads running continuously.

This can really give your business a ‘jolt’ when you consider how many people are on Craigslist at given time.

  • Before you promote your business on Craigslist, you need to know what information you need to include in your advertisements.

This is important.  You can use this strategy to increase your volume of advertisements, without violating Craiglist’s duplicate posting rule.

Include all your pertinent information, including a contact email and phone number in your business ad.  Then place a second, craigslist.org only special business advertisement, with a pretty eye catching coupon.

When reading it, the coupon strategy is more eye catching however, until they click on your listing; the potential customers do not see the coupon in the listing.

  • When you promote your business on Craigslist, make sure you write your headline correctly.

Capitalize the first letter of every word in your headline and don’t use all upper case, or your advertisement will be rejected.  It’s a good idea to optimize and front load your headline with your appropriate keyword or keyword phrase in order to maximize the number of people that get to read your advertisement.

Using these tips will help you promote your business on Craigslist, where you will be able to advertise for free to millions of people every day.
